ABOUT US
instaMiniSeries (iMS) is a female-led creative agency specializing in the development and production of original programming for the digital space. Founded in 2014, iMS helped shape the early wave of short-form digital storytelling (back when we only had 15 seconds!), anticipating today’s platform-driven landscape. Originally conceived as a hands-on creative lab, iMS evolved into a dynamic production company creating high-quality digital series that integrate innovative uses of emerging technology rather than simply following trends.
iMS was founded by Nikki Borges, Amanda De La Nuez, and Ceci Fernandez, and is led and showrun by Borges and Fernandez today. First-generation Cuban Americans who all attended the same high school in Miami, FL. Their friendship (and hair) have survived and endured many things including Catholic school and relentless summer humidity.
An early supporter of iMS, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson has remained a creative partner since day one. iMS is also lucky to have partnered with Pink Among Men to produce their sixth series, Welcome To Kill Joy. Past iMS collaborations include The Roots, David Bowie, Olivia Wilde, Fred Armisen, Bridget Everett, and more.
The company is committed to fostering fresh, smart voices that are often overlooked and to creating diverse, safe sets rooted in respect and inclusion, where everyone can do their best creative work.
THE TEAM
Nikki Borges - Co-Showrunner, Director, Producer
Nikki Borges is a Director and Executive Producer of instaMiniSeries. She directed UNBOUND, the sixteen-part instaMiniSeries for David Bowie’s final album Blackstar, which premiered at SXSW.
As Co-Showrunner on projects including Welcome To Kill Joy, she supports storytellers in the digital space and is passionate about fostering creative growth. Even across branded socials, commercials and live productions, she pairs creative vision with production precision. The goal is to always turn ambitious ideas into beautifully executed work while maintaining a roll up your sleeves, leadership style.
Ceci Fernandez- Co-Showrunner, Producer, Head of Script Development
Ceci Fernandez is Co-Showrunner, Producer and Head of Script Development at instaMiniSeries. In 2015 she joined the iMS team, writing and performing in the second series, Rota Fortunae.
Ceci divides her time at iMS between developing original work, as well as providing helpful guidance and feedback for guest writers, ushering their developing work to production.
Ceci is also an actor, writer and educator currently residing in Brooklyn and teaching at NYU Tisch. Ceci is the creator of Writers’ Gym, a writing collective in NYC. She received her MFA from the Yale School of Drama.
Amanda De La Nuez- Founding Member and Consulting Producer
Amanda de la Nuez is Co-Founder and a Consulting Producer of instaMiniSeries. She starred in iMS's first series, "Silent Brokelyn," and "SPARKLE: A Don Quixote Story," and made guest appearances on "Rota Fortunae" and "UNBOUND".
Amanda has continued to contribute and support instaMiniSeries' growth by taking on various roles. Amanda also greatly enjoys spending time with her dog, Gracie, and organizing spreadsheets.
